Threads launches enhanced content performance metrics
Threads’ new advanced performance analytics aim to help creators and brands track audience engagement and discoverability as competition intensifies with X.
Threads has rolled out major enhancements to its content analytics, offering creators and brands a deeper look into audience growth and engagement across the platform. The update aims to give users more actionable insights as Threads expands its reach and challenges rival platforms.
Stepping inside the changes
The upgraded Threads "Insights" dashboard introduces several new features. In the refreshed "Interactions" tab, post engagement data is now segmented by likes, replies, quotes, and reposts. Marketers and creators can track not only total engagement, but how each metric shapes audience feedback.
Follower analytics have also received an overhaul. The "Followers" section now displays growth trends broken down by geography (top cities and countries) and detailed demographic categories, including age and gender. This helps pinpoint audience composition and demographic shifts.
Users will also spot a new performance trends chart spanning periods from one week to three months. This addition makes it easier to identify high-performing content patterns.
Cross-platform discovery
Threads posts often reach new viewers through Facebook and Instagram recommendations. Creators can now see which app surfaces their posts most, with a percentage breakdown of views by platform. This cross-app view clarifies discovery pathways for multi-platform strategies.
According to Meta, “we’re improving Threads Insights and making it easier to see how posts perform and where your content was discovered.” Now, you can tap directly into the Insights dashboard for more detailed information. For example, tapping the Interactions section shows engagement by likes, replies, quotes and reposts, while the Followers section offers geographic data (top cities, countries) and demographic breakdowns (age range, gender).
There is also a “View sources” element within Insights that shows where your posts were seen, including whether viewers discovered your content through Threads itself, or via Instagram and Facebook. As Meta explains: “As a creator on Threads, eligible posts of yours can be recommended to people on Instagram and Facebook, extending your reach beyond the app.”
These additions give creators a better overall view of the resonance and reach of Threads content across Meta’s ecosystem.

Next phase in the analytics race
These updates reflect Meta's push to empower creators as Threads competes with X's established analytics. Threads reported 115 million daily active users in June 2025 – a 128% year-over-year increase. X, the current leader, had 132 million daily users during the same period, though its audience declined 15% year-over-year.
Meta's focus on deeper measurement extends beyond Threads. Instagram is testing carousel frame like counts for creators, signaling a platform-wide analytics evolution.
Why the new tools matter for marketers
Detailed interaction and follower analytics help brands tailor content and timing for higher engagement. The cross-platform breakdown identifies top-performing apps for organic expansion. These upgrades narrow the gap between Threads and professional-grade tools on established networks.
Creators should expect continuous improvements as Threads evolves. Advanced analytics are becoming essential for social media success amid increasing platform competition.
