Meta AI-powered translations launch for creators globally
Meta brings AI-driven voice translations and lip-syncing to creators on Facebook and Instagram, starting with English and Spanish.
Meta has begun rolling out an AI-powered translation tool for creators on Facebook and Instagram, with initial support for English and Spanish, as detailed in its official announcement. This translation feature allows creators to automatically dub their voices into another language, using AI to mimic the original tone and style for a more authentic result.
Creators in any market where Meta AI is active can access this new tool. At launch, translations between English and Spanish are possible, with more languages promised in upcoming updates. The technology is available to Facebook creators with 1,000 or more followers and all public Instagram accounts.
To use the translation option, creators select "Translate your voice with Meta AI" before posting their reel. They can choose whether to activate the lip-sync feature, which aligns the AI-translated speech with their mouth movements. Once the reel is published, viewers can see a notification that the video was translated by Meta AI.
Highlights of the release include:
AI-generated translations that preserve the creator's voice
Optional lip-syncing for natural-looking speech
Launch support for English-Spanish translations, with more planned
Viewer settings to toggle off certain translations
Creators can review and decline AI dubbing or lip-sync effects before posting
New insights showing content views by language for better audience analysis
Meta also enabled Facebook creators to upload up to 20 custom dubbed audio tracks in the Meta Business Suite, supporting even more multilingual content strategies. This approach helps creators adapt their videos for different audiences, both before and after publishing.
To achieve optimal results, Meta suggests creators face forward, speak clearly, and minimize background noise. The AI translation works best when no more than two speakers are present and their voices do not overlap.
This move builds on Meta's recent upgrades to creator tools, such as Meta Edits' audio editing enhancements, pushing the company further into the AI content landscape. The introduction of AI voice translations follows a pilot phase and arrives alongside broader changes within Meta's AI division, which is refocusing on core areas like research, superintelligence, and infrastructure development.
Meta's push for seamless multilingual content responds to ongoing competition across social platforms, where rapid adoption of generative AI and content localization tools has become standard. Other networks have similarly embraced AI-assisted features, making translation and automated dubbing vital for creators seeking international reach.
The direct ability to create and manage multilingual reels opens crucial new opportunities for creators and small brands. By overcoming language barriers, they can increase engagement, reach untapped markets, and analyze global audience data in real time. The added metric for views by language arms creators with valuable insight into which content resonates with different groups.
Creators who have not yet explored recent platform AI and social media features may find these enhancements particularly valuable for elevating their organic reach. Brands and entrepreneurs should evaluate how AI-powered dubbing fits with evolving content and engagement strategies.
Meta has not announced which additional languages will be supported next or provided a timeline for expansion. As competitive pressure increases and more creators adopt translation tools, expect a rapid rollout of further multilingual options in the coming months.
